Vice President's Palace Officially Under Construction in Nusantara

NUSANTARA- Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara, continues to make significant strides in its government infrastructure development. Today marked the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vice President of Indonesia's Palace, signaling the commencement of one of the essential elements in the nation's new administrative center on Monday (8/12/2024).

Vice President of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin stated, “The construction of the Vice President's Palace represents Indonesia's progress towards greater prosperity and justice. We hope this development will benefit all Indonesians.”

This project is part of the government's commitment to accelerating the realization of Nusantara as a modern, green, and sustainable administrative hub. The palace is expected to serve not only as a symbol of executive power but also as a reflection of Nusantara's vision as an environmentally friendly smart city.

Acting Chairman of Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), M. Basuki Hadimuljono, emphasized the significance of this construction. “With the start of this project, we are one step closer to realizing Nusantara as an efficient and sustainable government center, aligned with our nation's grand aspirations,” he said.

Diana Kusumastuti, Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), noted that the project will be carried out in two phases. “The first phase involves the construction of the palace, office, residence, and supporting buildings, which are expected to be completed by August 2025. The second phase will involve further tendering processes,” she explained.

The government reaffirms its commitment to making Nusantara a governmental center that not only functions as an administrative hub but also exemplifies modern, intelligent, and sustainable urban development.

The palace’s design concept, "Huma Betang Umai," translates to "Mother's Longhouse" in the Dayak language, symbolizing a large home that provides communal space and nurtures like a mother.

With its tropical, performative, and regenerative design, the Vice President's Palace is set to be an environmentally friendly and low-carbon building.

The groundbreaking event was attended by Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa, and several officials from the NCA, including Acting Deputy Head Raja Juli Antoni, Secretary Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya, Deputy for Development Control Thomas Umbu Pati, Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment Alimuddin, Acting Head of Legal and Compliance Unit Agung Dodit Muliawan, and Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi.
