Chairman of NCA Invites Foreign Ambassadors and Elementary School Students to Plant Trees in Nusantara Capital City

NUSANTARA– Chairman of Nusantara Capital Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, invited foreign ambassadors and students from 05 Public Elementary School in Sepaku (SDN 05 Sepaku) to participate in a tree planting activity at the Miniature Tropical Rainforest in Nusantara Capital City (Ibu Kota Nusantara/IKN) on Friday, 14th February 2025. This event is part of the Nusantara International Partners Visit 2025 held on 13th-14th February 2025, in Nusantara.

On this occasion, Basuki expressed his hope that tree planting would become a part of the lifestyle in Nusantara. He proposed that tree planting activities could be done on important life milestones, such as birthdays or weddings.

"Let us make tree planting a lifestyle in Nusantara. Every employee at the Nusantara Capital Authority who has a birthday each month can join in planting trees. Today, we also invited SDN (05) Sepaku students to spread this tree planting habit," said Basuki.

The tree planting activity took place at the Miniature Tropical Rainforest located in Nusantara. As an effort to restore the ecosystem, the tree saplings planted were placed between eucalyptus trees that have grown in the area, which was previously an industrial timber forest.

Various types of tree saplings planted during the event included meranti (Shorea leprosula), balangeran (Shorea balengaran), kapur (Dryobalanops lanceolata), salam (Syzygium polyanthum), and mata kucing (Dimocarpus longan).

The Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources of Nusantara Capital Authority, Myrna A. Safitri, stated that this tree planting activity reflects the seriousness of the Nusantara Capital Authority in realizing the vision of Nusantara as a #ForestCity.

“We are honored to invite our guests here to witness the Nusantara Capital Authority’s commitment to reforestation and making this city truly a forest city,” Myrna said.

Myrna also hopes that by involving students, the habit of tree planting can be passed down to future generations and encourage children to plant trees in their own communities.

“We also want to make tree planting a lifestyle, a social movement, which is why we involved students in this activity. The message from the Head is to plant regularly, and remind parents to plant trees in their yards,” she concluded.
