Visitors Welcome the 79th Independence Day State Ceremony in the New Capital City with Joy and Pride

NUSANTARA - The 79th Independence Day Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia was held at the State Palace Field in the New Capital City (IKN), Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

 

This year’s ceremony was led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who personally oversaw the hoisting and lowering of the sacred red-and-white flag. Prior to the ceremony, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, the red-and-white flag was paraded from the National Monument (Monas) to IKN as part of the series of events commemorating the 79th Independence Day.

 

During this ceremony, the new Nusantara Paskibraka team, consisting of 76 members from Paskibraka 2024, solemnly performed the flag hoisting and lowering duties at the State Palace Field in IKN.

 

The Proclamation Moment Ceremony began at 09:00 WITA, followed by the Flag Lowering Ceremony at approximately 15:30 WITA.

 

The ceremony was attended not only by ministers and high-ranking state officials but also by invited guests and representatives from the community in East Kalimantan. Visitors at the ceremony venue and its vicinity expressed their pride and joy, with many attending the event in IKN for the first time.

 

Additionally, artistic performances at the State Palace Field in IKN added to the festivity of this year’s ceremony.

 

With the inauguration of this first ceremony in the new capital, Nusantara, IKN embarks on a new chapter in Indonesian history. The successful execution of the ceremony on August 17, 2024, under President Jokowi’s leadership, demonstrates that the development phase of IKN is proceeding as planned and will continue.
