PENAJAM PASER UTARA – The Secretary of the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwidjaya, attended a coordination meeting regarding the plans for the 2024 General Elections (Pemilu) in Nusantara at the Penajam Paser Utara Regent Office on Wednesday (10/01/2024).
Preparations for the 2024 elections in Nusantara are a key focus for the NCA. These preparations are carried out in collaboration with the Penajam Paser Utara Regency Government, the Regional Election Commission (KPU) of Penajam Paser Utara, and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of Penajam Paser Utara, given that the elections are scheduled for February 14, 2024.
"Considering the high mobility patterns of Nusantara workers, updated worker data is needed ahead of the elections. This worker data is necessary so that the KPU can prepare ballots and polling stations according to the number of workers as additional voters in the Nusantara region. For this, intensive cooperation is needed among all parties," explained Secretary Jaka.
Acting Regent of Penajam Paser Utara Makmur Marbun added that there is a need for data collection of workers entering and leaving Nusantara. This needs to be promptly addressed, and the government is ready to facilitate all needs related to the required facilities and infrastructure.
The NCA is ready to continue coordinating with the PPU Regional Government, KPU PPU, and Bawaslu PPU to organize the elections to ensure the voting rights of Nusantara workers, even though, according to the law, the organization of elections remains the responsibility of local governments.
In the meeting, it was also agreed to form an integrated team to collect data on the number of workers and identify which workers will exercise their voting rights at polling stations in IKN. These workers will then be directly registered with the Regional Election Commission of East Kalimantan Province.
