Nusantara Development on Target, Total Investment Reaches IDR 47,5 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), Bambang Susantono, provided an update on the development of Nusantara as of the end of January 2024. Bambang stated that the development of Nusantara has progressed according to the set targets.

"As of the end of January 2024, the development of Nusantara has reached 71.47% of the target set for phase 1, and this figure also exceeds the target. This proves our commitment to continue working towards making Nusantara the capital city a livable and lovable city," said Bambang during a press conference on Tuesday (01/30/2024) at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia.

Bambang explained that phase 1 of the Nusantara development consists of four groundbreakings 1 to 4, which were carried out in September, November, December 2023, and January 2024. The eight main sectors being developed include hotels, residences, retail and logistics, offices, education, health, energy and transportation, as well as green areas.

According to Bambang, the total investment that has been received for phase 1 of the Nusantara development has reached IDR 47.5 trillion, with private investment accounting for IDR 35.9 trillion. Furthermore, there are currently about 350 Letters of Intent received by the NCA and are under review. A detailed process is being carried out to provide mutually beneficial cooperation, especially for the development of Nusantara.

The development in the Core Government Center Area (KIPP) also continues to show good progress. The construction of the Presidential Palace and the Ceremony Square has reached 54.7%. The National Axis Area Phase 1 has also reached 96.41%, while the Sepaku-Semoi Dam has reached 100%.

Bambang stated that the completion of various facilities and infrastructure is in line with the target to make history, namely celebrating the August 17, 2024 ceremony in Nusantara. Not only that, the development of Nusantara also shows positive impacts on the surrounding areas, reaching beyond the KIPP.

Bambang added that Nusantara is built with careful planning based on studies, research, and discussions with various experts in their respective fields. This is intended to ensure that the people living in Nusantara feel comfortable because Nusantara is a liveable and lovable city.

The Technology House in Nusantara will serve as a venue for proof of concept, and visitors can directly see various technologies that will be applied in Nusantara.

Bambang Susantono also stated, "We want Nusantara Capital to have a complete ecosystem, not only public facilities or government offices but also places for MSMEs, hangout places, stand-up comedy venues, or sports venues. This is what we want to create so that this city is not only livable but also lovable."

As the first city in Indonesia with a comprehensive sustainability framework, NCA's commitment to ensuring sustainable development is also crucial, especially to provide international confidence and positive impact development.

"Of the 252,000 hectares of Nusantara's vast area, only 25% is for buildings or built. 65% will later become reforested areas," explained Bambang. The remaining 10% is for food production. Reforestation has been carried out in Nusantara, supported by communities involved in the 'Green Movement: Sabuk Hijau Nusantara'.

Nusantara has also launched the Nusantara Net Zero Strategy 2045 at COP-28 in Dubai and will launch the Nusantara Nature Positive Plan, which aligns with the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. OIKN has also formed the ESG Committee to guide the development of Nusantara to align with international environmental, social, and governance principles.

In addition, the development of Nusantara has received support from the international community. This support includes backing from 13 UN agencies expressing support for IKN development in their respective areas of expertise, such as UN-HABITAT, UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCAP, and UN Women.

Bambang hopes that the development of Nusantara can continue smoothly and according to the set targets. He also hopes that the development of Nusantara can benefit the entire Indonesian society. "And in the future, it can become a center for economic growth, promoting economic equality to achieve Golden Indonesia in 2045," concluded Bambang.
