NUSANTARA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) organized a Media Visit to Nusantara, the new capital city of Indonesia, on August 9-10, 2024. This event aimed to provide a firsthand look at the progress of the development of the Nusantara.
The two-day event was attended by approximately 100 journalists representing local, national, and international media outlets. The media participants had the opportunity to observe the infrastructure development in Nusantara, particularly the facilities supporting the upcoming 79th Independence Day celebrations, such as the State Palace and the ceremonial field at Plaza Seremoni, Sepaku Semoi Dam and its intake network, ASN Housing, MBH Reservoir, Construction Workers' Housing, Swissotel Nusantara, Pulau Balang Bridge, and the Nusantara Toll Road.
Key speakers at the event included Acting Deputy Head of NCA Raja Juli Antoni, Head of the NUsantara Infrastructure Development Task Force Danis Sumadilaga, NCA Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono, Deputy IV of the Presidential Staff Office Rawanda Wandy Tuturoong, Special Staff to the Minister of PUPR for Technology, Industry, and Environment Endra S. Atmawidjaja, Special Staff to the OIKN Head for Public Communication Troy Pantouw, and officials from the Ministry of PUPR.
In his remarks, Acting Deputy Head of NCA expressed Nusantara's readiness to host the 79th Independence Day Ceremony. "We are fully prepared to welcome guests and celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day. We ask for the prayers and support of the Indonesian people to ensure that the August 17th ceremony runs smoothly," stated Raja Juli on August 9.
"This media visit is not the first nor the last. We will continue to conduct these visits to provide media access to witness the progress of the Nusantara Capital development. Moreover, there is tremendous enthusiasm, and I have personally seen the continuous progress in Nusantara's development," said Troy Pantouw on August 10.
He further emphasized that the Media Visit to Nusantara represents a commitment to transparency in the capital’s development. He also expressed hope that the media would help disseminate objective and comprehensive information to the public.
Echoing this sentiment, Danis Sumadilaga stated on August 10, “We organized this media visit to Nusantara as a form of transparency for the broader public. We understand that the lack of sufficient information regarding Nusantara’s infrastructure development has raised many questions. We hope that our media colleagues present here can help spread the optimistic story of Nusantara as we move toward Indonesia’s Golden Era in 2045."
Journalists appreciated this unique opportunity to witness the development of Nusantara firsthand and interact with officials responsible for the city's construction.
“It was an excellent media tour, as we were able to visit almost all the prominent locations in Nusantara, and we had ample time for detailed explanations from those in charge at each site. This greatly aids in reporting and content creation, allowing us to deepen our understanding of Nusantara ahead of Independence Day,” added Tomoyoshi Oshikiri, Bureau Chief of Nikkei Asia, on August 10.
Meanwhile, a participant from KataData welcomed the event, noting that it was well-organized despite the tight schedule. “Overall, everything was fine. In terms of capturing visuals, it was also good. There was a lot to explore, even though time at each location was limited,” they remarked on August 10.
Metro TV journalist Muhammad Hilmansyah from Balikpapan praised the Media Visit, highlighting the value of witnessing IKN’s development in person. “The progress of the Nusantara Capital's construction is impressive. This is a historic moment for Indonesia, with the nation’s capital now in East Kalimantan, built by the nation's own hands,” stated Muhammad Hilmansyah on August 10.
CNBC TV journalist Sherly, who also participated in the tour, was impressed by the ASN Housing facilities, particularly the spaciousness and comfort of the apartments. “It’s fitting because, although it’s called a housing block, it feels more like an apartment. The rooms are spacious, with two bedrooms, a large master bedroom, and a great view from the dining area and living room. It’s not cramped at all. I think it’s more than adequate,” she praised on August 10.
With this positive feedback from both national and international media, Troy Pantouw emphasized that the development of Nusantara deserves full support as it will become a symbol of Indonesia’s progress.
"Through this event, we hope that the public will increasingly understand and support the process of building the new capital, which is expected to become a symbol of Indonesia’s advancement and modernization," concluded Troy Pantouw on August 10.
