Meet the Greece Delegation, NCA Introduces the Nusantara and its Investment Potential

JAKARTA – The Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA) met with the Greece delegation, at the Jakarta NCA Office, to introduce the vision of sustainable development and investment potential in Nusantara, on Thursday (19/10/2023), in this case the Greece delegation was not only from the embassy but also businessman.

At this meeting, the NCA was represented by Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya as Secretary and Achmad Adipati Karnawidjaja as Chairman of the Representative Office in Balikpapan. From the Greece side there were several representatives among others, the Greece Ambassador in Jakarta, H.E. Stella Bezirtzoglou; Owner of Law Offices of Basil T. Patkos Shipping Lawyer, Vasileios Patkos; Owner of Le Convivial Spa Business, Paraskevi Kechri, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Athens, H.E. Bebeb A.K. Nugraha Djundjunan.

Through his remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador to Athens, H.E. Bebeb A.K. Nugraha Djundjunan, invited businessman from Greece to invest in Nusantara. He also conveyed the urgency of moving the capital from Jakarta to the Nusantara.

"Moving the capital city from Jakarta to the Nusantara was a big dream of the Indonesian people starting from President Soekarno, and finally was realized by President Joko Widodo. The move was carried out because the current direction of development is Indonesia-centric, namely equitable development and prosperity," he explained.

On the other hand, the Greece Ambassador in Jakarta, H.E. Stella Bezirtzoglou asked about forests in Kalimantan and ensuring the sustainability of NNC development after the 2024 political year. This was explained by the Secretary of the NCA, Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya.

He said that the focus of Nusantara development will refer to the reforestation mission, because in reality the area currently being built is industrial land which will later be reforested through plant seeds, one of them is from the Mentawir Nursery.

Not to forget, he emphasized that the development of Nusantara was based on binding law in accordance with Law 3/2022 concerning National Capital, that means, leadership succession could not stop the pace of Nusantara development, as was feared by Greece Ambassador Stella.

To support this, Committee of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has been formed which is tasked to assist the NCA in the fields of environment, social, and governance.

"The development of Nusantara certainly prioritizes the concept of green, smart, and global insight with the potential for investment benefits," added Secretary Jaka.

He also touched on the benefits of investing through Government Regulation no. 12 of 2023 regarding the ease of investing in Nusantara, this regulation elaborates on the various incentives.

Until the end of the discussion session, Secretary Jaka conveyed details through his presentation, namely regarding the background to the move to the Indonesian capital, legal basis, key performance indicators for Nusantara development, development phases, community empowerment, legal and political certainty, and investment opportunities in Nusantara. This has become an interesting discussion with businessman from Greece.
