NUSANTARA - In a ceremony honoring Indonesia's national heroes and founding fathers, particularly Bung Karno and Bung Hatta, President Joko Widodo inaugurated Taman Kusuma Bangsa in Nusantara on August 12, 2024. This event represents the nation's collective respect for those who fought for Indonesia's independence and progress.

During the ceremony, the President of the Republic of Indonesia expressed his deep respect for the nation's founders. "With Bismillah, I hereby inaugurate Taman Kusuma Bangsa," declared the President, followed by the signing of a plaque to mark the official opening of the park.

Following the inauguration, the President toured various facilities within Taman Kusuma Bangsa. Designed by I Nyoman Nuarta, the park spans an area of 1,915 square meters and includes several key elements that embody national spirit and honor the heroes. The park features an open plaza serving as the central hub for various ceremonies and commemorative events, the Nusantara Protective Wings, a symbolic structure representing the protection and unity of the entire Nusantara region, and a statue of Soekarno and Hatta, symbolizing leadership and the nation’s struggle. The Eternal Flame within the park represents the undying spirit of struggle, symbolizing the nation’s ever-burning resolve. The landscaping emphasizes natural beauty and balance, offering a serene and peaceful environment.

Taman Kusuma Bangsa, constructed by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) between January and August 2024, also features the 79-meter-tall Flag Monument. The inauguration of Taman Kusuma Bangsa is expected to provide a public space for the community and serve as a reminder of the importance of honoring the sacrifices of national heroes. It is also intended to be a place of reflection and inspiration for future generations.
